Cashier/Customer Service

Responsibilities:

  • Greet customers in a friendly and professional manner
  • Direct customers to the right department
  • Answer any questions about the store, or find someone who can
  • Price donations and help stock store shelves
  • Keep accurate customer statistics as requested
  • Operate cash register accurately and follow written cash/credit policies
  • Help customers load purchases as needed, they are responsible for tie-downs
  • Follow all ReStore policies and procedures
  • Clean specified sections of the store as time allows
    • Dust and organize merchandise by area assigned
    • Keep register area clean
  • Answer phone
    • Answer the phone in a friendly, professional manner
    • Write clear, complete phone messages
    • Give accurate store information
    • If unable to help the customer, try to find someone that can
    • Assist customers with donation information

Qualifications:

  • Desire to help the Habitat ReStore with its mission of providing funds for the Springfield/Eugene Habitat for Humanity affordable housing program
  • Friendly and helpful attitude
  • Ability to work as a member of a team
  • Ability to communicate policies and procedures clearly to donors and customers
  • Ability to follow written and oral instructions accurately
  • Ability to:
    • lift/move store merchandise on a regular basis
    • bend, stoop, stretch, and perform repetitive tasks regularly
    • stand for long periods of time
  • Customer service experience helpful, but not required
  • Willingness and ability to learn register/credit card machine
  • Ability to learn store inventory sufficiently to direct customers
