Responsibilities:
- Staff the donation department and assist customers making donations
- Greet customers in a professional/courteous manor
- Ask donors if they would like a donation receipt and issue one if requested, track zip codes of donors who do not want a receipt
- Become familiar with what items are accepted/not accepted as donations and be prepared to offer customers a list of other organizations where they may donate items if the ReStore cannot accept
- Help load/unload donations from the donation truck
- You may be called on to accompany and help donation pick-up driver load merchandise as needed
- Sort donations and move them to the appropriate section of the warehouse for processing (cleaning, testing, recycling, pricing, etc.)
- Assist customers as needed and help load merchandise into customers’ cars if requested. Customers are responsible for their own tie-downs
- Keep donation area clean and organized
- Assist in recycling, cleaning and processing areas as needed
- Assist in other store functions as requested
- Follow all ReStore policies and procedures
Qualifications:
- Desire to help the Habitat ReStore with its mission of providing funds for the Springfield/Eugene Habitat for Humanity affordable housing program
- Forklift training and certification helpful
- Friendly and helpful attitude
- Ability to work as a member of a team
- Ability to communicate policies and procedures clearly to donors and customers
- Ability to follow written and oral instructions accurately
- Ability to:
- lift 50+ lbs on a regular basis
- bend, stoop, stretch, and perform repetitive tasks regularly
- stand for long periods of time
- climb stairs and use ladders
- work in a minimally heated/cooled area for extended periods
